New LDS Organist by Dr. Don Cook, BYU
The New LDS Organist was the first organ training program I found while searching for materials to learn to play the organ. This program includes 12 lessons; lessons 6-9 (playing in "polish mode") can be skipped by those who will start playing the organ right away, but should be completed after the other lessons have been completed.
This program was developed by Dr. Don Cook, Organ professor in the Brigham Young University School of Music. Three graduate students assisted: Jane Dye, Ruth Eldredge, and Shinji Inagi.
The course includes a manual that can be printed (I had mine spiral bound at a local copy shop for convenience) as well as audio recordings that provide instruction for each lesson (transcripts are also available for those who cannot access the recordings while at the organ).
The New LDS Organist website includes all the materials and explanations for using the program, both as a student, and as a leader who is trying to train organists in their area. http://www.organ.byu.edu/newldsorganist/
Enjoy!
